Makhachev: "My style is uncomfortable for Porier"

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has spoken out about his closest opponent, former interim titleholder Dustin Puryear.

The bout between the Russian and the American will take place on June 1 at UFC 302 in Newark, USA.

"My tactic for the fight with Puryear is to protect my neck from his guillotines. And in general - Dustin is already a legend. He has a lot of MMA experience, but he has weaknesses. He's good in the standup, but wrestling is his weakness. Although he does like guillotines, I need to be prepared.

My style is not comfortable for Dustin. We watched him fight Max Holloway and other fighters who are good in the standup. Puryear has the best boxing at lightweight. No one can match him in the standup. But he has a bad fight, he lost not only to Khabib, but also his other title fight to Charles Oliveira," the New York Post quoted Makhachev as saying.
