Oleksandr Usyk, the heavyweight world champion under the WBA, WBC, and IBF versions, announced his intention to have only three fights before retirement from professional career. The Ukrainian boxer detailed his final stage vision in an interview with The Ring, emphasizing the desire to combine different challenges and styles.
First in line for Usyk is the legendary kickboxer Rico Verhoeven. The WBC title fight will take place on May 23 at the pyramids of Giza in Egypt. ‘For me, a fight with Verhoeven is a real fight. Sure, Rico is not a good boxer, but isn’t it an interesting fight?,’ noted the champion, acknowledging that it will be an unusual but exciting experiment.
Next, Usyk plans to meet the winner of the May confrontation between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.
Usyk wants to end his career with a trilogy against Tyson Fury, whom he humorously refers to as his old acquaintance. ‘And the third fight is with my friend 'Greedy Belly' Fury,’ he said, highlighting the personal nature of this confrontation and the desire to put a bright end to the legendary rivalry.
