British promoter Frank Warren openly criticized the announced rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, which is scheduled for September 19 in Las Vegas. The head of Queensberry Promotions stated that personally, he is categorically against this idea.
“I am not interested in this fight at all. Let them earn their money—good luck to them. But what they are going to do is dangerous. I don't like this concept. It’s their personal matter, let them follow through, but I am not interested in their fight at all,” Warren remarked.
The promoter paid special attention to the age of the boxers. At the time of the fight, Mayweather will be 49 years old, and Pacquiao 47. “It's just dangerous. They are too old, that’s the whole point. They shouldn’t be getting into the ring at such an age,” Warren emphasized, expressing concern over potential health risks to the athletes.
Let me remind you that the rematch of the legendary boxers will be the first professional boxing event at the innovative Sphere arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be broadcast live worldwide on the Netflix streaming platform.
