The mayor of Kyiv and former world boxing champion Vitali Klitschko addressed Ukrainians on the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"Four years of large-scale war, Kyiv defends itself, lives and works, overcoming the most difficult challenges. Especially this winter.

But the capital – the heart of Ukraine – endured both 4 years ago and now. When the enemy destroys critical infrastructure, leaving citizens in the cold without heat and light.

I thank the people of Kyiv who stood shoulder to shoulder without hesitation in the first days and weeks of the full-scale war, to ensure Kyiv endured.

Thanks to our utilities workers and all city services who work around the clock today (as they have for 4 years in a row) to restore vital services to citizens after enemy attacks. Thanks to the rescuers, doctors, teachers, social service workers, volunteers, and caring businesses. To everyone who works to ensure Kyiv lives, develops, and makes plans for the future.

Honor to our warriors who heroically fight for the freedom and statehood of Ukraine. Eternal memory to the fallen defenders!

Glory to Ukraine and its Heroes," Klitschko wrote on his Telegram channel.
