Former WBC welterweight world champion Mario Barrios shared candid thoughts after his defeat to Ryan Garcia in the title fight.
“I was caught early by a punch I didn't see,” said the American, noting that this knockdown in the first round significantly affected the further course of the fight.
The ex-champion assessed his opponent's actions, emphasizing his superiority in planning and execution. “He boxed very smartly, was very explosive and clever. It was his night,” Barrios stated.
Mario confirmed that he expected a strong performance from Garcia, but Garcia exceeded expectations in terms of discipline and effectiveness. “I knew he had boxing skills. He fought very smartly, throwing punches and moving,” the boxer added.
