Hamza Shiraz (22-0-1, 18 KO) and Alem Begic (29-0-1, 23 KO) may have a fight for the vacant WBO super middleweight world title in May in Manchester. The event is organized by Frank Warren's promotional organization.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) belt in this weight category previously belonged to Terence Crawford, who recently retired from professional boxing. Shiraz was supposed to fight Diego Pacheco for the vacant belt, but the American declined the fight, citing other plans.

In his last professional bout, Shiraz defeated Edgar Berlanga. Begic owned the WBO European champion belt for over ten years and last fought in April last year.
