The 30-year-old Australian probably gave the most lackluster and vague performance since he became a top cruiserweight fighter a few years ago.

Chinkara slightly shook Opetaia in the second round, but it was only a fleeting glimmer of hope. In the eighth round, the 40-year-old German Turk took a heavy left punch and found himself in a severe knockout, and it took a long time to bring him around.

Opetaia admitted that the performance was not the best: "I am very disappointed in myself. I felt like I let some people down with my performance. But Chinkara definitely came to fight. He boxed really well. To be honest, I felt like I boxed poorly. There were a lot of mistakes, and I'm freaking angry, but we won and we're moving forward."

Jai also announced his intention to unify titles with WBO and WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez.
