Jaron Ennis' promoter, Eddie Hearn, reported that he wants to set up a fight between his protégé and the interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz after the latter's victory over Erickson Lubin.
"I don't know what Lubin was doing in the second round. He just stood by the ropes for a minute and took damage. But it was a good victory. If you beat any fighter in the top 15 rankings in such a manner, then it's a great victory.
We value Vergil Ortiz, and that's why we want to fight him. We believe we have the best boxer [Jaron Ennis]. They both consider themselves the best. Ennis is 28 years old, and Vergil is 27. There's nothing to think about here. They fight on the same platform, with one broadcaster. Let's just arrange this fight. I think it should take place in Las Vegas," Hearn said.
Recall that on November 8, Ortiz defeated Lubin by technical knockout in the second round.
