Ilia Topuria Roasts Terence Crawford's Walkout: "He Should Stick To Boxing"

Ronald Crawley Sept. 14, 2025, 1:10 p.m.

Topuria, a Georgian fighter who's become one of UFC's biggest stars, traditionally enters the octagon to the tune of 'La Canción del Mariachi' by Antonio Banderas. When Crawford used the same song for his recent bout against Canelo, it rubbed Topuria the wrong way.

The MMA star took to social media with a fiery message:

"First he calls me drunk... then he walks out to MY song. Crawford, whenever you want, I'll teach you how to dance that mariachi in the ring. And Canelo, I'll save you a round after him."

Crawford, who had just outclassed Canelo from start to finish in a unanimous decision victory, addressed the situation at his post-fight press conference. He said he didn't know Topuria used the same song and explained he had personal reasons for choosing it.

Topuria didn't stop there. He claimed he could easily beat Crawford in a boxing match, saying:

"I won't talk about what would happen between me and Crawford in an octagon, I'll talk about what would happen in a ring. I put him to sleep in the first contact."

Crawford, one of boxing's pound-for-pound greats, brushed off Topuria's comments with a bit of humor. He said:

"That dude's drunk. You know, a lot of MMA guys, they drink a lot, so he must have been on that alcohol that day."

Canelo, still recovering from his loss to Crawford, hasn't responded to Topuria's callout. The Mexican boxing superstar probably doesn't know much about Topuria or his statements.

While this back-and-forth between Topuria and Crawford has gotten attention, it's unlikely to lead to an actual fight. Both men are at the top of their respective sports, and crossing over doesn't seem to be in either's immediate plans.
