David Higgins, promoter of the WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, believes that Oleksandr Usyk is unlikely to want to fight his charge if he wins against Fabio Wardley on October 25.
“We don’t control such decisions. We must take this philosophically. The main thing is to keep fighting and winning to be at the top. It’s encouraging that the WBO said Usyk must fight the winner of the Parker-Wardley match. It’s nice because we’ve done a lot of hard work to be in this position.
I don’t know if Usyk will want to fight the winner. There has been little communication and involvement from his camp. It’s hard to say. If I had to bet my house on it, I’d say he probably won’t fight Parker. There have been no messages indicating that they want to make this fight,” Higgins told Sky Sports.
Let us remind you that the WBO previously officially granted Usyk an extension from the fight with Parker.
