Oscar Duarte and Kenneth Sims Jr. will face off in a super lightweight bout on August 2 at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. The fight, set for 12 rounds, will be broadcast on DAZN and promoted by Cancun Boxing.
Duarte, known as "La Migraña," enters the ring with a record of 29 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 23 knockouts to his name. At 29 years old, he's coming off a knockout victory over Miguel Madueño and is the heavy favorite. He's looking to make a big leap in the division with this fight.
Sims, nicknamed "Bossman," brings a 22-2-1 record with 8 knockouts. The Chicago native is known for his technical and effective fighting style. He's coming off a win against Kendo Castaneda and will have the home crowd behind him as he tries to upset Duarte.
The clash of styles between these two fighters could make for an exciting match. Duarte packs a punch, but Sims has the boxing IQ that could give him trouble.
The undercard features some familiar names looking to get back on track. Regis "Rougarou" Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) is returning after a shoulder injury and two tough losses to Devin Haney and Jack Catterall. Joseph "JoJo" Diaz (34-7, 15 KOs) is also on the card, hoping to build on his recent win in June.
For these former world champions, a win could put them back in the conversation for title shots. A loss, however, might signal the end of their time at the top level of the sport.
"This fight will be pure adrenaline. Duarte has dynamite in his fists, but Sims knows how to box with intelligence. It's a clash that could steal the show,"said a spokesperson for the event.
Tickets for the event start at $25 and are available through Ticketmaster and GoldenBoy.com. VIP packages are also on offer, including exclusive merchandise and other perks for fight night.
