Floyd Mayweather Shares Surprising Detail About Canelo Victory: "I Was Actually..."

Since that defeat, Canelo has gone on to become a world champion in three weight divisions. The 35-year-old from Guadalajara recently became the first two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion in May and still holds the 168lbs title.

Now, Canelo is set to face Terence Crawford in their 'mega-fight' on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Crawford, who recently became the 154lb champion by defeating Israil Madrimov, will move up to 168lbs for this bout.

The weight difference between the two fighters on fight night has become a topic of discussion. Some speculate there could be up to a 20lb gap, with Crawford moving up from his primary weight class of 147lbs.

This weight disparity brings to mind the 2013 fight between Mayweather and Canelo. In a resurfaced interview with FightHype, Mayweather revealed the actual weight difference on fight night:

"Actually, when I went over to the arena, I weighed 149, I think 149 probably close to 150 but 149, so I went in the fight tonight weighing 149 and he [Canelo] weighed 165."

Despite the 16lb difference, Mayweather didn't think weight was the deciding factor:

"No I think it's really about the skills, I don't really think it's about the weight, I mean it's about the weight when you get to me going up to 160 right because you know it's hard for me to make the junior-middleweight weight."

Crawford has a chance to make history in this fight. If he wins, he'll become the first male fighter to win undisputed championships in three weight classes - super-lightweight, welterweight, and super-middleweight.
