Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk are hours away from their heavyweight rematch at Wembley Stadium in London. The fight will crown another undisputed champion in the heavyweight division.
It's been two years since their first encounter in Poland. Back then, Usyk stopped Dubois with a stiff jab. The fight wasn't without controversy, though. Dubois landed a body shot that put Usyk on the canvas, but the referee ruled it low and it didn't count.
Since that fight, Dubois has made big strides. He's grown in confidence and his skills have improved a lot. He's racked up some impressive wins, beating Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic. The win over Hrgovic earned him the IBF title. He even managed to defeat Anthony Joshua in September 2024.
Usyk, on the other hand, has been busy too. He beat Tyson Fury twice in 2024, adding to his already impressive list of victories over guys like Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, and Tony Bellew.
Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom Boxing promoter, shared his thoughts on the fight in an interview with The Stomping Ground. He thinks Usyk will come out on top.
"I favor Usyk to stop Dubois late in the fight. Usyk's just so cold and composed, and his skill level is incredible."
But Hearn didn't write off Dubois completely. He added:
"Dubois is a huge puncher, though. He's got a real shot in this fight, especially with how his confidence has grown."
There's a lot on the line for both fighters. If Dubois wins, he'll become the undisputed heavyweight champion. For Usyk, a victory will make him the first man to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
The stage is set for an epic showdown. Will Dubois' power and newfound confidence be enough to overcome Usyk's skill and composure? We'll find out soon enough.
