Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will go head-to-head again on July 19 for the undisputed heavyweight championship. This rematch follows their controversial bout last August, where Usyk won by stoppage in the ninth round.
The first fight saw Dubois knock down Usyk, but the referee ruled it a low blow. Usyk got time to recover, and went on to win the fight. Since then, Usyk has beaten Tyson Fury twice and became the undisputed heavyweight champion. Dubois, on the other hand, has knocked out three opponents, including Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua.
Respected boxing trainer Teddy Atlas thinks Usyk will win again. On his show "THE FIGHT," Atlas said:
"At the end of the day I can't go away from one of the greatest winners. A guy who's greatest trait, yeah he can box, yeah he's defensively good, yeah he can put punches together, yeah he's a southpaw, but he's a guy who finds a way to win. I can't go against Usyk. He'll find a way. It might be really tough, but he'll find a away."
Atlas praised Usyk's boxing skills, defense, combination punching, and southpaw stance. But he stressed that Usyk's best quality is his ability to find a way to win.
Atlas didn't ignore Dubois's progress. He said Dubois is now ready to win, has been "forged in fire," and has a great trainer. Atlas expects a close, interesting fight.
The winner of this fight will be the undisputed heavyweight champion. If Usyk wins, he'll make history as the first boxer to become undisputed heavyweight champion twice in the four-belt era.
The victor will likely face Joseph Parker next, as he's the mandatory challenger. This heavyweight showdown promises to be a thrilling contest with high stakes for both fighters.
