Derek Chisora has shared some interesting messages about the upcoming heavyweight fight between Dillian Whyte and Moses Itauma. The veteran boxer doesn't think Whyte should take on the young rising star.
Chisora, who's had 49 fights and plans to retire after his 50th, told Whyte he's making a mistake. "I don't know what you're doing taking that fight," Chisora said. But Whyte wasn't having it, replying, "I don't care, you're not my friend."
The experienced heavyweight didn't stop there. He also sent a message to 20-year-old Itauma, asking him to "Fight him but don't put him to sleep that badly."
Chisora spoke to talkSPORT Boxing about the fight scheduled for next month. He doesn't give Whyte much of a chance.
"If that fight goes past four rounds, then we're in trouble. Let's be honest, you're boxing a guy who's 24 years old, got all his faculties right, getting trained by one of the best in the UK. Mate, you've got more chance of winning the lottery than beating Moses Itauma."
Itauma's record backs up Chisora's confidence in the young boxer. He's won all 12 of his fights so far, with 11 of those wins coming by knockout.
Whyte chose to fight Itauma over other big names like Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker. A win for Whyte will put him back in the mix for big fights. But if Itauma comes out on top, he'll cement his place as a rising star in heavyweight boxing.
As for Chisora, he's looking at his own final fight. He might face Joseph Parker, Jarrell Miller, or even have a third bout with Whyte to round off his career.
