Canelo's Latest Business Move Draws Fiery Criticism: "He's Lost His Edge"

Alvarez has won his last few fights, but people aren't impressed. He beat Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia, even knocked them down, but couldn't finish them off. In Saudi Arabia, he couldn't corner William Scull, who kept running away. Alvarez couldn't make Scull fight back.

Some folks think Alvarez is slowing down because he's getting older. He'll turn 35 in a couple of months. Others say he's just in it for the cash now, not to entertain fans.

Bob Arum, who runs Top Rank boxing, had some harsh words for Alvarez. He called him "just a businessman" and "boring." Arum thinks Alvarez's next fight against Terence Crawford could be great, but only if Alvarez really tries.

"If both are going to fight (Canelo and Crawford), to really fight, I think it would be fantastic, it's very interesting. But again, if I had to pay money to see that fight I wouldn't because Canelo has shown in his last fights that he is just a businessman, he is not there to entertain the public."

Arum told FightHub TV that Alvarez hasn't been fun to watch lately:

"The Canelo we've seen the last two years... Not only is he boring, but he really has no incentive to get in there and give people a good fight."

Crawford, who's moving up two weight classes to fight Alvarez, has never lost a fight. He's won all 41 of his bouts. Arum thinks Crawford will definitely bring his A-game:

"Just take the big cheque, but if Canelo really fights, because I think it's safe to say that Terence always fights, he knows no other thing, then it could be a very good and interesting fight."

Alvarez has a deal with Turki Alalshikh for two fights in 2026. People think he might make about $100 million per fight. But if Alvarez doesn't look better against Crawford or loses, fans might start to wonder if he should keep fighting.
