Gervonta Davis might fight Jake Paul in November. The WBA world lightweight champion is reportedly in talks for this unexpected matchup.

Davis last fought on March 1 against Lamont Roach Jr. The bout ended in a split decision draw, with Davis keeping his title. During the fight, Davis seemed to have trouble with Roach's pace. He even took a knee in the ninth round, though it wasn't counted as an official knockdown. Referee Steve Willis' decision may have saved Davis' championship.

A rematch with Roach was originally set for June 21, then moved to August. Now, it's been called off completely.

Instead, Davis could face Jake Paul. Paul told reporters:

"Yeah we're on it behind the scenes to make that happen and obviously that's a fight where the fans are gonna win, and it's gonna be the biggest event of the year."

The potential fight poses some challenges. Davis, known as 'Tank', fights at lightweight. Paul competes as a cruiserweight at 200 pounds. This means Davis would need to gain a lot of weight for the match.

Paul, who's 28, wants to become a legitimate world champion. He's scheduled to fight former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Davis, 30, from Baltimore, Maryland, currently holds the WBA world lightweight title. If the fight with Paul happens, it could be a big change for both boxers' careers.
