Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez will step into the ring together on Friday, September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The fight announcement came after Canelo's victory over William Scull in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
Canelo beat Scull by unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 119-109. The win made him the undisputed champion at 168lbs again, adding the IBF belt to his WBC, WBO, and WBA titles. But fans weren't thrilled with the fight. They felt it lacked action, mostly blaming Scull for not wanting to engage.
Some think Canelo's performance might give Crawford an edge in their upcoming bout. Crawford was at ringside for the Canelo-Scull fight and shared his thoughts afterward.

Canelo seemed frustrated with Scull's style after the fight. He said:
That's why I don't like to fight those kind of guys. They come to just survive and do the 12 rounds. I hope September will be another kind of fight. With that kind of fight, it's a boring fight, not trying to win or survive, I hate those kind of fighters.
But the Mexican star looked ahead to his clash with Crawford with excitement:
Crawford is one of the best out there. I like to share the ring with those kind of fighters. Everybody is asking for the fight. That's why we are here.
Both Canelo and Crawford are considered pound-for-pound superstars in boxing. Their September showdown promises to deliver the action fans missed in Canelo's recent outing.
