Oleksandr Usyk thinks Anthony Joshua will beat Tyson Fury if they ever fight. The Ukrainian boxer has stepped in the ring with both men and believes Joshua's got what it takes to win on points.
Usyk knows these fighters well. He beat Joshua twice, first in September 2021 to grab the WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles, then again in a rematch nearly a year later. As for Fury, Usyk faced him in May 2024, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. He won against Fury again in December after giving up the IBF belt.
Usyk's second win over Fury came as a surprise to many, but it showed just how skilled the Ukrainian is in the ring.
Fury and Joshua have been talked about as potential opponents for over ten years. Even though neither holds a world title right now, a fight between them would still get fans excited. But Fury threw a wrench in the works when he suddenly announced his retirement in January.
Some fans still hope Fury might change his mind and come back for a big showdown with 'AJ'. When asked about this possible matchup, Usyk had a clear opinion. In an interview with Boxing King Media, he said:
"Anthony Joshua [would win]. Maybe [on] points."
While talk of a Fury-Joshua fight continues, there's another surprising possibility on the horizon for 'AJ'. He's been linked to a potential bout with Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer. Paul, known as 'The Problem Child', has mentioned he's had conversations with Joshua about setting up a fight.
Whether it's against Fury or Paul, Joshua's next move will certainly keep boxing fans talking.
