On June 27, Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) will return to the ring in Kansas, USA. The choice as an opponent not very strong Anthony Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) indicates that the recovery process of the former world heavyweight champion will be gradual.
Wilder himself is currently taking a sensible approach to the issue of fighting world-class opponents. After two straight losses to Joseph Parker and Zhang Zhilei, the American believes he will only be ready to fight Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) in 2026.
"This fight definitely won't happen this year, maybe next year. I need to pick myself up first and, first of all, prove to myself that I'm actually as good as I think I am," said Wilder, who will step into the ring after a 12-month pause.
