After Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) posted a short video from Old Trafford on his social media accounts yesterday with the caption "Did you miss me?", speculation quickly arose about the impending end of his athletic retirement, which the former world heavyweight champion began on January 13. But it turns out that at this point, Fury intends to present himself to his fans not as a boxer, but ... as a soccer coach.
Fury, along with former soccer star Wayne Rooney, will lead the England national soccer team in the traditional Soccer Aid charity match at Manchester United's stadium on June 15. Rooney will also appear on the pitch as a player.
"The prospect of leading the England national team to victory fills me with as much joy as any of my heavyweight fights. Everyone knows I'm a big Manchester United fan, so it will be a special occasion for me. And I will have the honor of coaching one of my idols, Wayne Rooney," said Fury, who last boxed in December, losing on points to Oleksandr Usyk.
