Gervonta Davis kept his WBA Lightweight World Championship belt after a controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. The fight took an unexpected turn when Davis went down on one knee in the ninth round.

'Tank' Davis claimed that grease from a recent hair appointment got into his eye, causing him to take a knee. Referee Steve Willis started a count but didn't score it as a knockdown after a brief chat with Davis. The champ's corner then stepped in to wipe his face.

If Willis had counted the knockdown, Roach would have won on the scorecards. This decision left many questioning the outcome of the fight.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez shared his thoughts on the controversial moment during an interview with Hot 97. The Mexican superstar scored the fight a draw but believed the rules called for a different outcome.

"Yeah, in my opinion it was a draw. He [took] a knee. And plus the corner go up and put a towel in his face. That's a disqualification. For sure. I'm talking about the rules, but it's not my business."

The WBA will decide if they'll order an immediate rematch. Davis is pushing for a second fight regardless of their decision, and Roach wants another shot at the title too.

While this controversy unfolds, Canelo is gearing up for his own fights. He'll face William Scull on May 3 in Saudi Arabia for the IBF belt. A win would make him a two-time undisputed champion in the super-middleweight division.

Alvarez also has a mega fight booked for September in Las Vegas against Terence Crawford. The boxing world can't wait to see how these upcoming matches play out.
