Floyd Mayweather didn't hold back when talking about Canelo Alvarez in a recent interview. The 47-year-old boxing legend summed up Canelo's skills in just three words: "He was nothing."

Mayweather's comments come 12 years after their fight in September 2013. Back then, Mayweather was an experienced champ in his 45th pro bout, while Canelo was a young challenger facing his toughest test. They fought for the WBC and WBA light middleweight titles.

Mayweather won by majority decision, but one judge's 114-114 score left many people, including Mayweather, scratching their heads.

In a recent interview with FightHype, Mayweather didn't mince words about the fight:

"You can take a guy like Canelo. I'll tell the truth about Canelo. The mo**erf**ker was easy. A cakewalk, easy. You're all praising this dude. He was nothing. I was almost 40 and I cooked this dude, easy."

Mayweather's harsh words paint a different picture from Canelo's career since that loss. The Mexican fighter has won 15 fights and lost just one. He's picked up world titles at middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight.

Now 34, Canelo holds the unified WBC, WBA, and WBO titles at 168lbs. His only other loss came in 2022 against former WBA light heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol.

Canelo might face Terence 'Bud' Crawford next in what could be one of boxing's biggest fights ever. It's a far cry from the fighter Mayweather says was "nothing" back in 2013.
