Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are getting ready for a big fight later this year. The two boxing stars will likely face off in what's shaping up to be one of the biggest matchups in the sport's history.
Turki Alalshikh from Riyadh Season is leading the talks to make this happen. At first, Canelo wasn't too keen on fighting the 37-year-old Crawford. But now, he's changed his mind and is up for the challenge.
Canelo recently shared his thoughts on the NoXskuses It's Levels Boxing Podcast:
"I'm in, why not. I think Crawford, don't get me wrong, he's a great fighter, but for me in my weight class it's an easy fight for me, easy money. If the money is right I'm in because you know, I don't like to fight guys like Crawford because [he] move a lot and the fight is not that great. I saw Crawford the last fight and he don't move that much now so yeah if the money is right, I'm in."
The 34-year-old Mexican icon seems confident, calling it an "easy fight" and "easy money." He's noticed Crawford doesn't move around as much as he used to, which makes him more interested in the bout.
For Crawford, this fight means moving up two weight divisions. If he wins, he'll become a five-weight world champion, which would be a huge deal for the American boxer.
Reports say the fight will happen in September 2025 in Las Vegas, but it might be as early as May 2025. Either way, fans can't wait to see these two pound-for-pound stars go at it in the ring.
