Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford might fight each other. Edgar Berlanga, who recently lost to Canelo, shared his thoughts on Crawford's chances.
Berlanga faced Canelo in Las Vegas last September. The fight was for the WBC, WBA, and WBO super-middleweight titles. Canelo won by unanimous decision, knocking Berlanga down in a dominant performance. It was Berlanga's first defeat.
Crawford, on the other hand, recently beat Israil Madrimov in August to win the WBA super-welterweight title. This victory made Crawford a four-weight world champion.
In an interview with Sway, Berlanga shared his thoughts on a potential Canelo-Crawford matchup.
"Anything can happen. Crawford's a great fighter. His skillset and IQ can match anybody's and possibly do better. He's a legend in the sport, so you can't count him out."
Berlanga acknowledged Canelo's advantages in weight and size. Crawford would need to move up two weight classes to 168lbs for this fight, but he's said he's willing to do so.
Tim Bradley, a two-weight world champion, predicts Crawford would win decisively. But Berlanga's experience against Canelo gives his opinion extra weight.
The potential Canelo-Crawford fight has got fans talking. Crawford's skills and Canelo's power make for an intriguing matchup. We'll have to wait and see if this dream fight becomes a reality.
