Demetrius Andrade thinks David Benavidez will beat Canelo Alvarez if they fight. The former two-weight world champion shared his opinion in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV.

Canelo vs Benavidez has been a hot topic in boxing for years. Benavidez has tried to get a fight with Canelo, but it hasn't happened. Now, Benavidez has moved up to light-heavyweight.

Andrade's opinion comes from his own experience. He fought Benavidez last November at 168 pounds. It was Benavidez's last fight in that weight class, and he won by stopping Andrade in the sixth round. Before that fight, Andrade had never lost.

"Yeah, I don't think Canelo's beating David at all. I don't blame him not to fight David. Canelo, stay away from David. Don't do it! Listen, I'm taller and longer than Canelo and I don't know if Canelo… that's a big boy, man. You gotta really have the right skillset, the movement, IQ, sharpness to beat David … At 168, that's how you have to be to beat him."

Andrade explained why he thinks Canelo will struggle:

"Canelo's smaller than me. I was able to push David around a few rounds, do what I had to do whatever, but that weight and his length – and he knows how to throw punches in bunches – it's gonna be hard task for Canelo. David's not somebody who's gonna let up on you either. Canelo's not beating him."

Benavidez will fight David Morrell at light-heavyweight on February 1. The winner of that fight will likely face the winner of the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch.

Canelo is expected to look at offers in January and return to the ring in May.
