British boxing fans might soon get to see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua square off in the ring. This matchup, once talked about as a fight for all the belts, has been put off many times.
The two heavyweights share a common opponent in Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champ who recently stepped into the boxing world. Ngannou's boxing debut against Fury went the full ten rounds, with Fury winning on points despite being knocked down. In contrast, Joshua stopped Ngannou in just two rounds in their fight.
Ngannou, speaking to IFL TV, gave his thoughts on a potential Fury-Joshua clash:
"I don't know, I would give it to AJ right now."
Fury's recent fights have been against Oleksandr Usyk, where he won twice in close contests. Joshua, on the other hand, lost twice to Usyk before bouncing back. He then beat Daniel Dubois in five rounds.
Right now, Fury's team isn't saying much about the fight, wanting to give their boxer a break. Joshua's side is pushing harder for it, seeing it as a key fight in the final stretch of his career. They're also open to a rematch with Dubois.
Most fans would probably pick Fury to win, especially after Joshua's recent loss to Dubois. But in boxing, you never know what might happen when two big hitters step into the ring.
