Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury again on December 21, 2024, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. But not everyone agrees on how the fight went down.
Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, thinks his guy won. He told FightHub TV:
"No I certainly didn't. I can't see how one judge didn't give him a round from round six onwards and the other judges gave him one round each. A neutral was Oscar De La Hoya who was sitting there and he had Tyson winning like I did. I thought Tyson won it by a couple of rounds at least."
Warren's view matches what Oscar De La Hoya saw. The boxing legend also thought Fury had done enough to win.
But Eddie Hearn, who promotes Anthony Joshua, saw it differently. He told Boxing King Media:
"I thought it was a draw. I thought it was very difficult to split them. I look at the reaction and most people have Usyk winning the fight I guess. The main thing I will say is, that three judges scored it the same and I like it when that happens because sometimes we see a lot of variation. There were a lot of close rounds, they were very difficult to split."
The judges all scored it the same way, giving the win to Usyk. One judge didn't give Fury a single round after the fifth, while the other two only gave him one each.
This fight was a rematch from their May 2024 bout, which Usyk also won. Before that, he'd beaten Anthony Joshua twice in a row.
Now that he's the undisputed champ, Usyk might fight Daniel Dubois again or look to unify the heavyweight division once more.
As for Fury, he might hang up his gloves for good. But there's still talk about one last fight with Anthony Joshua before he calls it quits.
