Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury in their heavyweight championship rematch. The judges all scored it 116-112 for Usyk, giving him a unanimous decision win.
This fight followed their first bout in May, where Usyk won by split decision and became the undisputed heavyweight champion. He had to give up the IBF belt before this rematch but still held the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles going in.
ESPN reported that all three judges saw the fight the same way, with Usyk coming out on top after 12 rounds.
Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya watched the fight from ringside. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Boxing King Media:
"I think Usyk pulled it off in the second half of the fight. He came out strong in the second half. I didn't see Tyson use that many jabs or use his distance. We saw the outcome and Usyk deserved it."
When asked about differences in Fury's performance compared to their first fight, De La Hoya said:
"I don't think I did. I saw Tyson tired. It's a testament to Usyk's abilities inside the ring. Go back to the drawing board."
De La Hoya didn't see any big changes in Fury's approach and noticed he looked tired. He gave credit to Usyk's skills for wearing Fury down.
Someone asked if anyone could beat Usyk. De La Hoya kept it simple:
"We all get beat, one way or the other."
Another boxing great, Lennox Lewis, also watched the fight live. His take on who won wasn't mentioned in the report.
Usyk's win cements his place at the top of the heavyweight division. Fury will need to rethink his strategy if he wants another shot at the titles.
