Oleksandr Usyk proved he's the top dog in the heavyweight division. He beat Tyson Fury by unanimous decision in their rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, keeping his WBC, WBA, and WBO titles.
This fight settled the score after their first bout in May ended in a split decision win for Usyk. To make this rematch happen, Usyk had to give up his IBF belt. That title now belongs to Daniel Dubois.
Speaking of Dubois, he didn't waste any time after Usyk's win. He jumped in during Usyk's post-fight interview, demanding a rematch. Dubois has a bone to pick with Usyk after their fight in August 2023. Usyk won that one with a 9th round stoppage, but there was some controversy about a low blow ruling.
Usyk's response to Dubois' challenge? Short and sweet. "No problem," he said. He added, "Yeah, no problem. I'm ready. Next fight, no problem. Now I want to go back home, little bit of rest and [then] I'm ready."
Dubois isn't just sitting around waiting for Usyk, though. He's been busy. He knocked out Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium, cementing his status as the IBF Heavyweight Champion.
But before Dubois can think about Usyk, he's got other business to handle. He's set to defend his IBF belt against Joseph Parker in Riyadh this February. This fight is a must-win for Dubois if he wants that rematch with Usyk.
The boxing world isn't just buzzing about heavyweights, though. On the same card as Dubois-Parker, there's another big rematch happening. Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will face off for the Undisputed Light-Heavyweight Championship.
It's shaping up to be an exciting time for boxing fans. With these fights on the horizon, there's plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
