Gervonta Davis might give Floyd Mayweather a run for his money, according to Shane Mosley. The former champion, who once rocked Mayweather in their 2010 bout, shared his thoughts on this dream match-up in a recent interview.

Mosley initially favored Mayweather in this fantasy fight. He told The Art of Dialogue, "Floyd Mayweather I think wins. Pretty easily at 135." Mosley pointed out Mayweather's advantages in height, speed, and boxing skills. He felt Davis wouldn't get close enough to land his power shots.

But Mosley didn't stop there. He reconsidered his stance, remembering how he'd managed to hurt Mayweather in their fight. This made him wonder if Davis, with his knockout power, could do the same.

"I still think Floyd would've got him, but there's a question mark there because Gervonta Davis does punch hard and he could crack him."

Mosley noted that Davis packs a punch similar to his younger self. He also brought up Mayweather's dislike for southpaws, which could work in Davis' favor.

'Tank' Davis boasts an impressive 30-0 record with 28 knockouts. He's the biggest star Mayweather helped build, though they've since parted ways. Davis himself has admitted that Mayweather would be his toughest test in the ring.

While this dream match-up won't happen, Davis keeps moving forward. He'll defend his WBA Lightweight World Title against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 in Brooklyn. Davis plans to hang up his gloves at the end of 2025, leaving fans to wonder what might have been in a showdown with the 50-0 Mayweather.
