Mike Tyson's recent boxing match against Jake Paul has got people talking, and not everyone's happy about it. Terence Crawford, one of the best boxers around, thinks it's time for Tyson to hang up his gloves for good.
The fight, which took place in Texas, saw the 58-year-old Tyson go up against former YouTuber Jake Paul in an eight-round bout. Paul's company, MVP, promoted the event, which was broadcast on Netflix. Despite breaking viewership records, many found the main event underwhelming.
Tyson, once known for his ferocious style, looked like a shadow of his former self in the ring. Paul, despite his lack of experience, cruised to a unanimous decision victory.
Crawford, nicknamed "Bud," didn't mince words when asked about the fight. At first, he didn't want to talk about it at all.
"Man, I don't even want to talk about it."
But when pressed, Crawford shared his thoughts in an interview:
"I just think he's past his prime. He's too old. He needs to let it go. He can make money from other things in life. I just think, before he gets hurt, he needs to just chill out. Enjoy life."
Crawford's concerns echo those of many who worried about the dangers to the 58-year-old Tyson before the fight. Luckily, Tyson left the ring unscathed.
The fight had its share of drama even before it started. Originally set for July, it got pushed back to November. Tyson later revealed that the postponement was more serious than initially reported, saying he almost died in June.
After the fight, Tyson hinted he might fight again, but later confirmed it was his last bout. His family backed up this decision, saying he's done with boxing for good.
As for Jake Paul, he's moving forward as one of the most talked-about figures in boxing, for better or worse.
