William Cepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) has suffered an injury and his fight with Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs), which was scheduled to take place on February 22 in Riyadh, has been canceled. Eric Gomez, president of Golden Boy Promotions, confirmed that Cepeda suffered a right hand injury that will sideline him for an extended period of time.
The Mexican and his team want to move the fight date, but Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, has just one fight in 2024, so he's unlikely to wait that long for a healthy Cepeda.
George Cambosos Jr. (21-3 10 KOs) recently challenged Stevenson on social media, and Shakur was quick to accept his invitation, though only in words for now.
