Terence Crawford wants to move up two weight classes to fight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The undisputed welterweight champion has set his sights on the super-middleweight division, where Canelo reigns supreme.

Crawford recently won his debut fight at super-welterweight against Israil Madrimov. The victory marked Crawford's first step towards his goal of challenging Canelo. Now, he's looking to jump another division to face the Mexican superstar.

Canelo has fought 10 times at 160 pounds with little trouble. He's the undisputed champion at super-middleweight, though he was recently stripped of one belt. While Canelo has dismissed the idea of fighting a smaller man, he's open to an offer from Crawford.

Former undefeated two-weight world champion Andre Ward backs Crawford to win if the fight happens. Ward shared his thoughts on social media:

"I'm going with Terence Crawford. Big weight jump, dangerous fight, but somebody's got to prove to me that they can break Terence Crawford's will and that he can't figure it out against you."

Ward believes no one has proven they can break Crawford's will. He's impressed by Crawford's ability to figure out opponents and isn't betting against him against anyone currently.

Neither fighter has a publicly lined up opponent, so the fight could still be on the table. If it doesn't happen, Crawford might consider retirement. He could also look for challenges at super-welterweight against fighters like Vergil Ortiz Jr or Sebastian Fundora.

The boxing world will watch closely to see if this ambitious matchup between two of the sport's best pound-for-pound fighters comes to fruition.
