Tyson Fury's Cornerman Vows Silence in Usyk Rematch: "I'll Hold My Tongue"

None

Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury in May 2023, winning all four world titles and becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades.

The fight saw Usyk take a split decision victory after a close contest. The first eight rounds stayed tight, but Usyk dropped Fury in the ninth and nearly knocked him out. Fury got saved by the bell. Usyk's strong finish in the championship rounds proved key in securing the win.

Andy Lee, one of Fury's coaches, initially said nothing went wrong in the corner. But he's now changed his tune. Lee told Sky Sports:

"If we had won the fight, nobody would have said a word, but there probably were too many voices in the corner. It's not good for a fighter. You don't need to be bombarded. So I'll hold my tongue."

The loss marked Fury's first defeat, ending his unbeaten run. The fight had been close until Usyk's strong finish. Fury's corner included SugarHill Steward and John Fury alongside Lee, which may have led to the issue of too many voices.

Usyk's win makes him the first undisputed heavyweight champ since Lennox Lewis over 20 years ago. It's a major achievement in boxing history.

Fans won't have to wait long for a rematch. Fury and Usyk will face off again on December 21. The fight will give Fury a chance to reclaim his titles and undefeated status, while Usyk will look to cement his position at the top of the heavyweight division.
