Dave Allen, a popular British heavyweight boxer, believes Tyson Fury will beat Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming rematch. Allen's prediction comes from his personal experience sparring with both fighters.
Allen has fought big names in the heavyweight division, including Dillian Whyte, David Price, and Luis Ortiz. He's also shared the ring with many top heavyweights in sparring sessions, giving him a unique perspective on the Fury-Usyk matchup.
In their first fight back in May, Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion. The Ukrainian boxer even sent Fury reeling with a big right hand in the ninth round, forcing a standing eight count. Recently, Fury has admitted he might have lost that first encounter, a change from his immediate post-fight thoughts.
Allen's experience with Usyk wasn't all positive. In October 2020, a video surfaced showing Usyk knocking Allen out on his feet during a sparring session. That incident led to Allen's temporary retirement from boxing.
Despite that tough moment with Usyk, Allen still favors Fury in the rematch. He shared his thoughts in an interview with talkSPORT Boxing:
"I think Fury wins. I sparred all of them, boxed all of them, he's the best fighter I've ever been in the ring with. He's the best fighter I've ever been in the gym with. He's special. So is Usyk, but he's too small. Fury should have won the first fight. If he corrects a few things he stops him."
Allen's prediction hinges on Fury making some adjustments from their first bout. He thinks if Fury can do that, he'll not only win but potentially stop Usyk.
The British boxer isn't just talking about the fight - he'll be part of the event. Allen is coming out of retirement to face Johnny Fisher on the undercard of the Fury-Usyk rematch in December.
With both Fury and Usyk proving their skills at the highest level, the rematch promises to be a can't-miss event for boxing fans. Allen's insider perspective adds another layer of intrigue to an already compelling heavyweight clash.
