Terence Crawford wants only the biggest fights before he hangs up his gloves. The boxer from Omaha has made it clear he's after the most challenging opponents following his impressive run in the sport.
Crawford's career hit new heights in 2023 when he put on a show against Errol Spence Jr. The win made him the first male fighter to be undisputed champion in two weight divisions in the four-belt era. He didn't stop there. Crawford moved up to 154lb and beat Israil Madrimov to become a four-weight world champion.
Now, at 37 years old, 'Bud' has his sights set on an even bigger challenge. He's eyeing a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at super-middleweight. It's a bold move that would see Crawford jump up two weight divisions, facing a naturally bigger opponent.
Crawford shared his thoughts on an episode of the Earn Your Leisure podcast. He made it clear he's not worried about any opponent:
"My mindset is always, win at all costs. Make sure I'm coming in at 110% shape and prepared for whatever the opponent brings to the table. Make sure that I'm at the best of my abilities going into a fight so I don't have to worry about anybody else."
The fighter's confidence shone through as he added:
"I always say that because I obviously feel that I'm Terence Crawford and can't nobody beat me unless I beat myself."
While Crawford is keen on the Canelo fight, he's got other options on the table. He's been ordered to face Sebastian Fundora but has allowed Fundora to fight Errol Spence first. Crawford keeps the right to fight the winner of that bout.
With his impressive track record and unwavering self-belief, Crawford's next move will surely grab the attention of boxing fans worldwide. The fighter from Omaha continues to prove he's a force to be reckoned with in the ring.
