Canelo Alvarez might have a new challenger, according to James Toney. The former 168-pound champion thinks Terence Crawford would beat Canelo without breaking a sweat.
Canelo, the Mexican superstar, has been on a tear. He's fought 66 times, losing only twice - to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol, both on points. He's never been knocked down and has beaten some of the best, including Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and Miguel Cotto. Right now, he's the unified super-middleweight champion and has held titles in four divisions.
Recently, Canelo defended his belts with a routine win over Edgar Berlanga. But James Toney, who fought 92 times and was never stopped, thinks there's a tougher challenge out there for him.
In an interview, Toney couldn't stop praising Crawford:
"Terence Crawford is an incredible fighter. It's gonna be hard to beat him, anybody at 154."
When asked about a potential Crawford vs Canelo fight, Toney didn't hesitate:
"Easy win [for Crawford]. Easy win. Trust me."
Toney didn't stop there. He added:
"Canelo is a good fighter, but he's not on James Toney's level."
Canelo hasn't seemed too keen on the idea of fighting Crawford. He's pointed out that Crawford just made his debut at super-welterweight, which is two divisions below where he'd need to be to challenge Canelo. The Mexican champ thinks this proves there are weight classes for a reason.

While David Benavidez has been calling Canelo out for a while, Crawford's name keeps popping up too. It's clear that despite his dominance, Canelo still has plenty of potential challengers waiting in the wings.
