Fans have been eager to see how Davis' power would match up against Stevenson's defense. But they'll have to wait a bit longer. Stevenson is now on the sidelines after hand surgery. Meanwhile, Davis is set to fight on December 21 in Washington, likely against super-featherweight titlist Lamont Roach.
Lopez shared his thoughts on Davis' skills and potential matchups in the lightweight division.
"Tank is a good fighter for everyone out there who wants to see boxing. He has those things for those people. At 135, yeah he beats all those guys."
However, Lopez didn't dismiss Stevenson's chances entirely. He added:
"The only one that gives him a challenge is Shakur. Shakur Stevenson will give him a challenge. Because Shakur is technical where you gotta think more."
Lopez also commented on the quality of Davis' past opponents, particularly taking aim at Ryan Garcia:
"Tank has been fighting C to B class fighters. Ryan [Garcia] is an A+ on media, social, but not as a boxer, we all know this."
Davis, known as "Tank" for his devastating power, currently holds the WBA Lightweight Championship. Stevenson, on the other hand, is known for his impenetrable defense and technical skills.
While Davis prepares for his December fight, Stevenson is expected to return to the ring in February 2025. He's set to face William Zepeda, an undefeated number one contender.
