Daniel Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua in a stunning upset to keep his IBF heavyweight title. The fight ended in the fifth round after Dubois had dominated from the start.
Dubois set the tone early, landing a huge right hand on Joshua's chin in the first round. Joshua hit the canvas but managed to get back up. Over the next few rounds, Dubois knocked Joshua down two more times.
In the fifth round, Joshua started to fight back hard. But just when it looked like he might turn things around, Dubois landed the final blow that ended the fight.
Dubois' jab was key to his victory. He used it expertly throughout the fight, keeping Joshua at bay and setting up his power punches.
British boxing legend Ricky Hatton shared his thoughts on the fight in an interview with The Stomping Ground:
"Dubois' jab was fantastic, drilling the jab. I was saying Joshua needs more right hands and then he went bang and hit him with a right hand and then he got nailed himself, incredible. i was always a pressure and the only thing that worried me was is someone was drilling me on the way in, AJ was just pawing with the jab and that's why Daniel was coming through him, he needed to start throwing back hands to stop him in his tracks and the minute he landed one Daniel wobbled but the fight was over."
Hatton also shared his thoughts on Joshua's future in boxing:
"Personally, as a friend, I'd like to see him retire. He's been a two-weight world champion he's had a fantastic night here, 96,000 against a fellow Brit, I don't want to see him get hurt again."
Despite Hatton's concerns, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn says Joshua has a rematch option in his contract. Hearn thinks Joshua will want to use it.
This fight will go down as one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history. It's changed the landscape of the heavyweight division and left fans wondering what's next for both fighters.
