Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has just beaten Edgar Berlanga and is already thinking about his next fight. The Mexican champion won by decision and even knocked Berlanga down in the third round.
Now, Canelo's looking at who he might fight next. He's ruled out David Morrell after Morrell's recent fight against Radivoje Kalajdzic didn't impress him. When asked about Morrell, Canelo simply said, "Yeah I think so."
David Benavidez is still a possibility, but Canelo's not sure about him either. In a recent interview, Canelo said:
"He was fighting in his weight class, his weight class is 175, and when he fights in his weight class he doesn't look like he used to, he doesn't look like 'The Monster' they say."
Terence Crawford's name has come up too. Canelo thinks Crawford's good, but he's not sure about the weight difference. He said:
"He showed himself at 154. He knows it's very different. I always say, you know, Crawford is a good fighter, as a fighter I know you think you can beat anyone when you're good but that's why there is weight classes. Everyone wants to fight me 'cause it's a payday."
Canelo's not closing any doors, though. He's open to different fights if they make sense for his career and his bank account. He explained:
"Everything is possible, everything is possible, You know I always fight for legacy, I always fight all the best out there. If the money is right, everything is possible."
Right now, Canelo's still the champion at super middleweight. Benavidez and Morrell have been fighting at light heavyweight, but they might come down in weight for a shot at Canelo.
We'll have to wait and see who Canelo picks for his next fight. He's looking for someone who'll help build his legacy, give him a good challenge, and bring in the big bucks.
