Ryan Garcia has some strong words for Terence Crawford. The young boxer called Crawford "an overhyped bum" and told him not to fight Canelo Alvarez.
Garcia shared his thoughts in a recent interview with Say Cheese TV. He didn't hold back when talking about Crawford, who just became a four-weight champion by beating Israil Madrimov in August.
"No don't do that [Crawford]. Terence Crawford is not like that. Terence Crawford is an overhyped bum. I'm sorry but somebody has got to say it, you're an overhyped bum I'm look at the camera right now, you f**king suck bro."
Garcia didn't stop there. He went on to criticize Crawford's fighting style and entertainment value.
"Stop acting like you're like that, stop stealing boxing's money, wasting everybody's money, you're not entertaining, you're boring as f**k. Come see me in the ring if you think I'm talking s**t, I can do it anytime bro."
The young boxer seemed pretty confident he could take on Crawford himself. He talked about his amateur experience and pointed out what he sees as Crawford's weaknesses.
"I could definitely see Crawford, what you mean? I was one of the best fighters in the amateurs bro, he was too, I've seen man fighters like him. I don't care if he can take away my left hook, I can find a way to get him. He's not that good, he gets hit a lot, he gets hit and gets wobbled, he's not untouchable."
Garcia's comments come while he's serving a doping ban after failing a test in his fight against Devin Haney. He's now calling for a rematch with Haney and has promised to take drug tests every day to make it happen.
Meanwhile, Crawford has shown interest in fighting Canelo Alvarez. After his win against Madrimov, Crawford said facing Canelo is his main motivation left in the sport. This would mean jumping up two more weight divisions from his recent debut at 154 pounds.
As for Canelo, he's got his own plans. He's set to fight Edgar Berlanga on September 14.
