Shakur Stevenson Unveils His Ultimate Opponent: "It's The Fight Everyone Wants"

Shakur Stevenson has teamed up with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom. The three-weight world champion from Newark says he'll "be unstoppable in and out of the ring" with this new partnership.

Stevenson, who's 27, split from Top Rank earlier this year. Now, he's got big plans with Matchroom. His first fight under the new deal is set for October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He'll defend his lightweight title against Joe Cordina, a former super-featherweight world champion.

Eddie Hearn laid out the future plans on the Matchroom YouTube channel. After Cordina, Stevenson might face William Zepeda, who's ranked number one with all four sanctioning bodies at 135 pounds. Then, in about six months, there's talk of a showdown with Gervonta 'Tank' Davis.

A fight between Stevenson and Davis would be huge. Stevenson's known for being hard to hit, while Davis has knocked out 28 of his 30 opponents. It's a clash of styles that fans are eager to see.

Hearn's excited about working with Stevenson. He said:

"I am delighted to welcome what I believe is a pound-for-pound great to the Matchroom team. Shakur Stevenson is 27 and already a three-division World champion and might be unbeatable in the sport of boxing."

He added:

"This young man should be a global superstar, and I believe with our machine behind him, he will land all the big fights and receive all the credit that he deserves."

With his first fight under Matchroom just around the corner, Stevenson's looking to make a big splash in his new promotional home. If all goes to plan, we might see him in some of boxing's biggest fights soon.
