Gervonta Davis Coach Drops Truth Bomb on Shakur Stevenson: "He's Making a Big Mistake"

Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson are getting ready for a potential fight that's got boxing fans talking. These two world champions have very different styles in the ring, making their match-up one of the most interesting in boxing right now.

Davis, known as 'Tank', holds the WBA Lightweight World Title. He's a knockout artist who's put away all but two of his opponents. Davis often lets his opponents have the early rounds before he closes in for the finish.

On the other side, Stevenson wears the WBC Lightweight World belt. He's a defensive wizard who wins his fights without taking much damage. His opponents only land about 5 punches per round on average, according to CompuBox stats.

Fans thought the fight was more likely to happen when Stevenson left his promoter, Top Rank. But things got complicated when Stevenson was seen with Turki Alalshikh, who's quickly becoming a big name in boxing. Alalshikh runs Riyadh Season and might work with Stevenson on future events.

Kenny Ellis, who helps train Davis, shared his thoughts on this situation in an interview with Mill City Boxing:

"For Shakur [Turki Alalshikh] is more like protective custody, cause Shakur don't need him to make that fight and if he do go with him he not gonna fight Tank. So, it's like PBC for real, you know? My opinion."

Ellis didn't want to say more about why he thinks Stevenson working with Alalshikh could stop the fight from happening. He did say he hopes Stevenson stays unbeaten to keep the value of the fight high. Ellis added that they'd still fight Stevenson if he lost, but it might not be the same.

For now, we'll have to wait and see what happens. Stevenson might come back to the ring later this year, possibly against Joe Cordina, a former super-featherweight world champion. As for Davis, he might fight again in November, but we don't know who his opponent will be yet.
