Saul Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) clearly doesn't care that the IBF stripped him of his super middleweight title. The Mexican star remains the WBC, WBA and WBO champion. The International Boxing Federation authorities obliged their champion to make a title defense with William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs).

Instead, Canelo opted for an equally easy but more financially lucrative fight with Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs). That's why the IBF stripped Alvarez of his title and Scull will fight Vladimir Shishkin (16-0, 10 KOs) for it.

"There are certain levels in boxing: stars and superstars. That's what makes a boxer a champion, not being a champion makes a boxer a star. And who is William Scull really? I've never heard of him before. I'm not going to do everything the feds tell me to do. Despite everything I feel about this situation, with all my previous fights, I just deserved it," Canelo stated.
