Ukrainian first middleweight boxer Serhiy Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) failed to defend the WBC interim champion title against the claims of American Virgil Ortiz (22-0, 21 KOs).

In a spectacular confrontation that topped the night of boxing in Las Vegas, Bogachuk knocked his opponent down twice, but eventually lost by majority decision: 113-113, 114-112 and 114-112.
