American Virgil Ortiz survived the first two knockdowns of his career to win by majority vote of the judges over interim WBC interim featherweight champion Serhiy Bogachuk of Ukraine in the main event of an evening of boxing in Las Vegas, USA.

Ortiz and Bogachuk landed more than 1,500 punches in a gong to gong shootout that featured many brutal exchanges. In the opening round, Bogachuk sent Ortiz to one knee with a right jab, but the referee did not score the knockdown. Later representatives of the Athletic Commission reviewed the replay and recorded the knockdown in favor of the Ukrainian.

Bogachuk knocked Ortiz down again in the eighth round, this time when a left hook made the American's glove touch the floor. However, Ortiz gained momentum after that and was able to shake the Ukrainian twice. He won the last three rounds by unanimous decision and the last four on two cards, pulling out the win on points (113-113, 114-112 and 114-112).
