Saul Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) is likely to lose the IBF super middleweight title soon. This is reported by ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger.

The IBF named William Sculla (22-0, 9 KOs) as a contender to fight Canelo a few weeks ago, but the Mexican will face Edgar Berlanga in his next professional appearance. The fight is scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas.

That will likely force the IBF to strip Alvarez of the title, and Scull will fight the next available fighter ranked highest in the rankings for the vacant title. Canelo also holds the WBC, WBO and WBA championship belts in the 76-pound weight class.
