WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson commented on the sensational defeat of Devin Haney, the holder of the belt on the same version in a bantamweight fight with Ryan Garcia.
"We've been called boring. I think it hurt Devin, it was like he was caught up in the moment and wanted to satisfy the fans.
Ryan was the boxer and Devin was the aggressor coming forward. Ryan on the other hand was preparing his moves and making Devin look for it. I think it was all about a bad plan for the fight. Also, Devin wasn't keeping his right hand near his head. He was extending his arm to catch the jab, even though Ryan isn't the best at it, he had to worry about the hook," Stevenson told Cigar Talk.
Recall that on April 20, Haney lost to Garcia by majority decision of the judges. At the same time, Devin retained the championship title, as Ryan failed the weigh-in before the fight.
