Poirier explained why he does not want to move up to welterweight

Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier explained why he doesn’t plan to change the division.

“I’m too small to be a welterweight. Many people don’t understand what weight cutting is and how big all these guys really are. It’s impossible to weigh 78kg, skip breakfast, weigh in, and then fight the next day in that division. Opponents will weigh over 88kg. The fans don't understand this. At such a high level, giving someone a 9 kg advantage would not be a very good idea,” MMA Fighting quotes Poirier as saying.

Let us remember that Poirier had his last fight at the end of July, losing by knockout to Justin Gaethje.
